When did American men become so afraid of displaying affection? This photo from the 1920s seems sexually ambiguous to us now because, back then, men were allowed to hug, embrace, hold hands, and otherwise show same-sex affection. I hope Americans will become re-accustomed to seeing open affection between men, thanks to the LGBTQ community's efforts! But I also hope that one day heterosexual men too can rediscover the pleasures of bromance without shame.
