Projector Sean Chapin brings us this hauntingly beautiful montage of the protestors (pro and anti-gay) outside of the California Supreme Court during yesterday's Prop 8 hearing.

As one of those there for the Marriage Equality side, I was struck -- and Sean's video so beautifully shows this -- by how solitary and solemn the Prop 8 supporters are. They stand alone with their signs, they rarely greet or talk with one another, usually staring straight ahead, usually silent. Our group, to the contrary, greeted one another with smiles, with hugs, with kisses; we stood in clumps, talking animatedly with one another. In a word, we were showing love. Those of us who have a right to be glum, disheartened, angry and sad at the abrogation of our constitutional rights nonetheless were the ones showing affection, love, gratitude and hopefulness yesterday morning.
