After Merik Castro spoke at the Litchfield Elementary School board meeting and asked them to change their district policies to protect their students and staff from bullying, harassment, intimidation and discrimination, he was summarily ignored. The district has come under fire recently for failing to intervene in a case of anti-gay bullying and Castro formed The Bullying Project to advocate for a new policy. When he called the district offices to speak to community liaison, Ann Donahue, she hung up on him - because, you know, she cares about bullying.
