PETA Supports the Non - Ethical Treatment of Women?

PETA is no stranger to controversy. For many people the first thing that comes to mind when we think of these animal rights' activists is images of paint throwing and nude ads starring celebrities. However, I have never seen something like this.

In their newest ad, "BWVAKTBOOM-Boyfriend Went Vegan," We see a woman in a neck brace as the voice over explains what has caused the injury - her boyfriend has gone vegan, and it has given him the power to fuck her until she needs medical attention.

The ad is clearly trying to be funny, but even as a vegan, I can't see how this would bring anyone to our side unless they are into BDSM (make sure that is pleather you are using). I'm also curious why this is focused on the boyfriend. Is the girlfriend a non vegan so they think she deserved it? Or has her vegan powers weakened over time?

As a vegan, I do support some of their work, but am often embarrassed by their tactics. Has PETA forgotten that humans also need some ethical treatment? It just seems hypocritical.

I have been vegan for three years and my partner for two years - and I can't say it has given us the urge to injure each other.

I went vegan mostly because of my care for animals, but my boyfriend came to his decision mostly for health reasons. He saw that I was healthier and happier and that is why he stuck with it (he is not a PETA fan). It had nothing to do with my libido.

So come on PETA - don't lose sight of who you are trying to convert. Veganism prevents violence, not encourages it.
