Here's a novel advertisement focused on the gay community. While the kitschy ad is meant to sell hardwood floors, my first thought was "Well, someone wants carpet." Either that or it's HellTek_Floors.jpgan ad on how to start a couple's squabble over redecorating the house! What do you think? Effective ad? Or stupid?

What else do you need to know this morning? Here it is:

  • The Discovery Channel has fired Man vs Wild star Bear Grylls "due to a continuing contractual dispute." The network says Grylls refused to participate in two other projects he was contracted to do.
  • A Missouri judge has ordered a local school district to stop barring LGBT websites as "porn."
  • Towleroad gives us a rundown of the week's marriage equality news. This week brought us movement in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Maine, Washington, New Hampshire, Maryland and Minnesota.
  • The Senate has confirmed California attorney Michael Fitzgerald has a judge for the US District for the Central District of California by a vote of 91-6. Once you get past the obstructionist Republican games, apparently they have no problem actually getting the work done. Seems he's not a bad guy at all. Just gay.
  • The Archbishop of Canterbury and head of the Anglican Church, Rowan Williams, has resigned. He will leave his post at the end of the year to return to academia. His likely successor, John Sentamu, the Archbishop of York, is against marriage equality but supports civil unions.
  • New York City has announced the grand marshals for this year's pride parade. One of them, Kiehl's beauty line CEO, Chris Silgardo unfortunately gets referred to by the company's official name - Kiehl's Since 1851. "Chris Silgardo, CEO of Kiehl's Since 1851..." Hope that retirement plan is a good one.
  • Gillian Anderson, best known for playing Scully on TV's X Files, has come out as bisexual.
