I reported on Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney hiring LA-based openly gay national security specialist Richard Grenell last Thursday, April 19, shortly after the campaign made the announcement. Surely the campaign knew he was openly gay so, I posited, they selected him not only for his expert credentials but also to pivot to the mainstream election. After all, many gays are upset with Romney for, among other points, signing the National Organization for Marriage's pledge to support a federal constitutional amendment banning marriage rights for same sex couples.

It was interesting to hear Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director R. Clarke Cooper, who was Chief of Staff with Grenell as spokesperson for the US Mission to the UN. Ambassador in the Bush administration, debate anti-gay extremist Bryan Fischer yesterday morning on CNN.

Video after the break.
