Frank-Ocean.jpgFrank Ocean is more than an R&B and Hip Hop artist.

He is a writer, producer, and performer who has worked with Justin Bieber, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Beyoncé. His style is very innovative and captivating, and he has gained international fame from his amazing talents. But Frank has made an even a bigger step in his career; he came out about his sexuality to the public.

Since then, Frank's story has soared throughout multiple communities. Frank's coming out has not only started in-depth conversations but has also created a spark that will eventually change the game in the R&B and Hip Hop universe.

Here's why I'm saying this:

Frank has provided an innovative image in the R&B/Hip Hop music industry. The hyper-masculine appearance and tone has dominated the genre for years. Frank offers an alternative image that will hopefully encourage and inspire others to be who they really are.

Frank's story is continuing the conversations about sexuality. For so long, the black community has placed sexuality in the corner. His experiences could clear the path for effective discussions that were normally considered taboo. Plus, his story may challenge others to think outside their average views of gay or bi black men in our society.

Also, his coming out has encouraged other R&B and Hip Hop artists to show their support. So far, Chuck D, Russell Simmons, Beyonce, Busta Rhymes, and Tyler the Creator have come out to support Frank. Seeing this type of praise and admiration can optimistically shift the outlook of R&B and Hip Hop.

Now, some will say it's too early to tell if Frank Ocean's coming out will have any major impact. I believe it's only going to get bigger and better. Frank has provided the possibility of change in the R&B and Hip Hop industry. He has confirmed that doors can open and communities are welcoming. In all, Frank has provided hope.
