Yesterday's primary elections in Florida and Wisconsin were mighty good for openly gay candidates.
Florida elected David Richardson; since he's running unopposed in the general election, he will be the state's first openly gay legislator. Three other candidates won their primary election and will advance on to the general.
In Wisconsin, lesbian Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin will advance to the general election in her bid to become the first openly LGBT Senator. Gay state legislator Mark Pocan won his primary and in a heavily Democratic district is almost certain to win the general election. Pocan replaced Baldwin in her old state legislature seat and is now poised to replace her in Congress.
All of the candidates are democrats.
