Today the City Council of Austin unanimously passed a resolution in support of same-sex marriage, making the capital city the first in Texas to take such a step.

Texas has a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage and civil unions, so the Austin vote doesn't have much practical effect, but it does send a message that things are changing, even in the Lone Star State.

We keep you now in Austin, Texas, for some bad news.

Last Friday, during Austin Pride, Nick Soret was ordering pizza from a food truck when another patron repeatedly yelled at him, "What are you looking at?" The guy attacked Soret, so his friend Andrew Oppleman intervened, and got the crap beaten out of him.

That's the latest from Texas, where you win some, and you lose six teeth.
