I know last week's post included David Bowie, but what better symbolizes the end of a year than the hope for "Changes"? God knows I could use a few.
2012 has had many good moments, but the election was tiring, and I faced some major personal dilemmas that I will not go into in a sing-off post. Either way, I'm glad it is over, and we can look forward to the lucky 13.
The changes have already started for me. My mom married a really awesome guy today, and though I could not be home for it, we made use of Facetime so I could join in. It's nice to have another Democrat in the family and finally a step-dad that's cool with me being gay. Welcome to the family, Gary. Glad to have you.
I have not specific resolutions this year other than to take better care of myself. We'll see how that goes. But I did pamper myself with my favorite anxiety killing activity today - digging through the vintage vinyl at my favorite record store. No Bowie today since I already own all of his 70s albums save for Low which is hard as hell to find (Any readers with a copy? I'd be happy to take that off your hands). But I am still fleshing out some glam with Slade's Slayed? and Queen's Sheer Heart Attack. I'm listing to Slade as I write this.
Anyway, back to "Changes". Nothing can beat Bowie's original, but there have been some pretty awesome covers. My favorite would have to be Seu Jorge' Portuguese Cover, and Butterfly Boucher and David Bowie's cover for the Shrek 2 Soundtrack.
As usual, check out the clips after the jump and let me know who you think did it best. Did I miss anyone? Give us a link in the comments. What changes are you hoping for in 2013?
