Diana-anmhe.jpgThis week's sing-off is brought to you by Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. While the cover of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" recorded by the cast that plays as the credits roll is not the best, it was the only version I knew as a 9 year old. It has its highlights - specifically Lauryn Hill - and she is why this song has entered my mind this week.

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is on regular rotation at my apartment. While listening to the album with friends this week, it led to a discussion of Sister Act 2. Combine that with my vinyl copy of Diana Ross & the Supremes Join the Temptations playing later in the night and you have a sing-off.

My favorite version still has to be the original Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell version. That would be followed by the Supremes and Temptations. Diana Ross's cover is beautiful, but slow for my taste. I had never heard Whitney Houston's version until today, but it is now a strong contender.

As usual, check out the clips after the break and let me know who you think did it best. Did I leave someone out? Post a link in the comments.

Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell (1967)

Diana Ross & the Supremes Join the Temptations (1968)

Diana Ross (1970)

Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993)

Whitney Houston (1997) - Song starts at 3:12
