California Representative Mark Takano, the nation's first openly gay person of color to serve in the US House of Representatives, took to the House floor to introduce himself on Feb. 26, saying his constituents wanted a teacher to be their voice in Washington. CNET noted Takano's use of Twitter's Vine video to briefly show him delivering his first bill - the VetSuccess Enhancement Act. Takano seems to tweet liberally, (@RepMarkTakano), including a backstage photo and video link to his appearance on the MSNBC political show "The Daily Rundown" - with substitute host Luke Russert, who screwed up Takano's name. "And don't worry about mispronouncing my name, @LukeRussert! You're forgiven!" Takano tweeted afterwards. He was on the show to talk about his letter to President Obama to request the Department of Justice file an amicus brief with the Supreme Court opposing Prop 8, as it did in opposing the Defense of Marriage Act and sequestration.
