I seriously considered including this in the line up of today's WYNTK, but it isn't really a news piece per say:

Celebrated activist, author, and gender warrior Kate Bornstein is suffering from what her doctors consider to be a highly treatable form of cancer. However, the cost of treatment is prohibitive and her friends and family are trying to raise the funds needed to hopefully save her life. She does have insurance, but as many of us know, there are high deductibles, and many expenses that are not covered, even if deemed necessary by her team of doctors. Additionally, like many forms of cancer treatment, it will leave her immune system too weakened to maintain the travel and speaking schedule that keeps her living expenses paid.

Kate has touched, and one might say saved, innumerable lives within our community, and hopefully members of the community can help come to her aid in return.

And now, here's what you need to know for Friday, March 22 2013
