It's almost June, and I'm excited. For the eighth year in a row, I will be hosting Blogging for LGBT Families Day, a time for bloggers of all sexual orientations and gender identities to post in support of LGBT families.

2013familyday.jpgThe event will be June 3, the first weekday of Pride Month and almost exactly between Mother's Day and Father's Day -- honoring both parenting titles, but also recognizing that many families fall outside the stereotypical definitions.

Just write a post on your own blog, here at Bilerico, or wherever you normally blog, then submit the link at Mombian on or before June 3. All topics related to LGBT families are welcome: personal posts, political and social commentary, media reviews, videos, or whatever else you can envision. Make them funny, serious, snarky, light-hearted, tear-jerking, or combinations of the above. Then visit the master list at Mombian throughout the day on June 3 to read the contributed posts from LGBT bloggers, our families, and allies.

Some of you may post about LGBT families pretty regularly; others may not. Regardless, I hope you'll make an extra effort to do so on June 3 in celebration with others, helping to shed a light on why all families should be treated with equality, inclusion, and respect.

Thanks to the Family Equality Council for sponsoring the event this year. The real power behind this event, though, has always been all of the independent bloggers who take part and share their stories and perspectives.

Have questions? Check out the FAQ list. I look forward to reading your posts!
