Yesterday, HRC president Chad Griffin sent a letter to ten of the top corporate sponsors of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia warning them that they must speak out in the face of Russia's draconian crackdown on LGBT people or risk tarnishing their brands by "[associating] with profoundly anti-LGBT behavior."

Griffin's letter also includes a list of six items HRC is asking the companies to act on to publicly demonstrate their support for and solidarity with the LGBT community in Russia and throughout the world. For its part, HRC pledges to "[create] an online resource" to track the companies' action or inaction and make their positions clear to the world.

Kudos to HRC for throwing their considerable weight into holding these multinational corporations accountable.
