WI's Walker: Marriage Equality Isn't Coming "Anytime Soon"

"To change anything in the constitution -- not just [Wisconsin's marriage discrimination amendment] -- it requires two consecutive sessions of the legislature and ultimately a vote of the people, and I just don't see that as being anything that's going to be addressed anytime soon."

-- Scott Walker, Tea Party Governor of Wisconsin, answering a reporter's question about the state's constitutional marriage equality ban at a National Governors Association conference in Milwaukee last weekend. Walker was also reportedly pressured by Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn, who urged his Wisconsin counterpart not to fall behind other Midwestern states in the area of equal marriage rights.
