It's not every day you cause an "international controversy" from your bedroom, but that's apparently what happened this week when, sitting in my pajamas in our bedroom/home office here in D.C., I created a petition asking Selena Gomez to speak out for LGBT rights during two upcoming concerts in Russia.

In response, the Russian government yanked her visa, apparently worried that Gomez would do just that.

ABC's Good Morning America reported the story this morning, calling the situation an "international controversy" and pointing to my petition as the likely cause of Gomez's sudden visa problems with the Russian government.

Good Morning America isn't the only media outlet that's been chattering about this story. Everyone's talking about it! A list is after the jump.

The story even made the Moscow Times.

As I noted yesterday, Russian concert promoters are worried that the country's crackdown on the basic rights of LGBT people and ban on so-called "gay propaganda" will continue to have an adverse effect on Russia's music scene.

To name just one example, international pop sensation Elton John is scheduled to give a concert in Moscow in December. John is one of the most high-profile gay celebrities in the world, and he's been a very public advocate for LGBT rights causes, including marriage equality.

With the Russian government running scared, I wouldn't be surprised if Sir Elton's visa is in jeopardy, too.
