A Very Recovery Christmas

Nothing says "Happy Holidays!" like a drag queen in recovery delivering her rendition of "Twas the Night Before Christmas."

AnitaXMas.JPGThe pure joy found in this video is palpable, as our drag hostess, Anita Mann, takes you on a very strange journey through the classic tale. She is shocked by St. Nick's outfit ("Someone is not using the accessory wall very thoughtfully") and even fantasizes what having the jolly old man as her sponsor might be like. The story definitely ends in a sweet spot of gratitude for our friends and our many blessings.

Over the years I've written occasionally about my crystal meth addiction and recovery process, and there's no doubt I've dodged a bullet - and must remain vigilant to stay healthy (there is anecdotal evidence of a resurgence of meth use, which we know is a leading factor of HIV infection among gay men).

These ominous facts aside, the driving force of my recovery process has been the joy of living life out loud, just being fully present for all the wonders around us. A little laughter goes a long way.

But I'll let Anita tell you all about it. She appears after the first few seconds. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
