Ten-year-old Aidan is an elementary schooler in northeastern Wisconsin. This week, Aidan's teacher gave him and his classmates a homework assignment: they were to write about something in the world they wanted to change.

Aidan could have written about a new toy he wanted or the Packers winning the Super Bowl, but he had a far more important change in mind: making the world a better place for gays and lesbians, including his two gay uncles.

He wrote:

I wish that people would be nice to gay and lisbean [lesbian] people because if someone likes the same sex it really doesn't matter. So to stop this, I'd want to get my gay uncles and as many gay and lisbean couples or people and try to make a TV commercial that talks about being nice to gay and lisbean couples. Because it is really sad that gay and lisbean people and couples have to live life like this."

Aidan's proud uncle, who posted the note on Facebook, writes that his nephew wrote and shared the assignment with his class without hesitation.

We're proud of you too, Aidan. Thanks for giving us hope for the future, and proving once again that when it comes to equality, the kids are all right.

A photo of Aidan's tender note is after the jump.
