Watch: Elaine Stritch Drops the F-Bomb on Live TV

Broadway legend and gay icon Elaine Stritch dropped by the Today Show this morning to promote her new documentary Shoot Me, and she gave hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb a little more of an earful than they bargained for.

Gifford said to Stritch, "Elaine, you are so beloved -- but as much for your work, of course, [as] for your mouth. You say whatever you want to say." Stritch agreed, but then jokingly complained about television censorship. "If you just say things naturally, it's fine," she said. "You know, they just think in f**k."

The hosts were caught off guard, of course, but believed network censors had caught the expletive in time and bleeped it out. Luckily for us, they hadn't.
