isaiah-washington-3.jpgIsaiah Washington's career imploded back in 2006 after he got into a dust up with "Grey's Anatomy" co-star Patrick Dempsey. Washington supposedly called T.R. Knight, another actor on the show, a "faggot" although he later denied the allegation during a press conference months later in early 2007.

Soon enough it turned into a he said-she said affair full of red carpet comments and appearances by other actors on celebrity gossip and talk shows. Knight came out of the closet shortly after the incident. By June, Washington was let go by the popular TV drama and went into self-imposed exile. He resurfaced in late 2013 to talk about how the incident affected his career saying "I went from 2 million dollars a year to residual checks. Zero. I couldn't even get another apartment after I turned in my lease for my $3 million home. I had to put it in my wife's name. No one wanted to touch the name of Isaiah Washington for three years."

Now the actor is returning to the set of Grey's Anatomy for a one episode appearance for the show's tenth season.

Grey's wonder woman showrunner Shonda Rhimes was notoriously hesitant to fire Washington back in 2007, even after the violent hostilities on set. Addressing Washington's imminent return to the show on Thursday, she stressed that Washington's character, Preston Burke, is vital to the resolution of departing mainstay Cristina Yang's storyline.

Forgive and forget, I say. He's done his stint in the timeout box. People change and mature. How about you? Are you willing to let it go?
