Flag-of-Indiana.jpgOn Saturday, the Indiana Democratic Party affirmed marriage equality in the adoption of its 2014-2015 platform. This new platform is in stark contrast to their rival, the Indiana Republican Party, which is seeking to add marriage discrimination language into its platform.

Democratic State Rep. Phil Giaquinta told Indiana's News Center, "With regards to the marriage issue, just supporting and strengthening family values for all folks, and that's something we've stressed in the legislature and expect our platform to do the same."

The Indiana Republican Party is seeking to add exclusionary language that states:

"Strong Family Structures. We believe that strong families, based on marriage between a man and a woman, are the foundation of society. We also recognize that some families are much more diverse and we support the blended families, grandparents, guardians and loving adults who successfully raise and nurture children to reach their full potential every day."

The contrast between the two parties and their visions for the state are becoming increasingly evident ahead of the midterm elections.
