Ginsburg: SCOTUS Will Not 'Duck' Marriage Equality

"I think the court will not do what they did in the old days when they continually ducked the issue of miscegenation. If a [marriage equality] case is properly before the court, they will take it."

-- Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, in an interview yesterday with the Associated Press. The AP notes that this marks an important shift for Ginsburg, "who previously had been seen as wary about the court getting too far ahead of the country in ruling on major social issues." She also predicted that the Court will hear a marriage equality case and decide the issue by June 2016 at the latest, and possibly as soon as next year.
