dan-stevens-beat-off.jpgIt's been a heavy, heavy news week, so here's something that will bring a smile to your face on a Friday afternoon.

Yesterday's episode of the weekday show Good Morning Britain featured an appearance by Dan Stevens, the hunky actor best known for his portrayal of the dashing Matthew Crawley on the hit PBS series Downton Abbey.

The conversation turned to The Guest, a forthcoming psychological thriller in which Stevens plays the lead role, a U.S. soldier. Host Susanna Reid noted the importance of the part for Stevens's Hollywood career and the significance of a British actor being selected for such an "all-American" role. She then wondered whether he'd had any competition from American colleagues... and that's when things went hilariously awry.

"You must have had to beat off a lot of American men to get this part," Reid said, sending Stevens and the studio crew into fits of giggles. Reid, apparently oblivious to the blatant double entendre she was making, asked: "Why does that make you giggle? Did you not have to beat them off?"

Watch a British daytime television host ask a major star whether he won his breakout role by masturbating American guys on the casting couch, after the break.
