hunted-war-on-gays-stewart.pngLast week on The Daily Show, host Jon Stewart interviewed Ben Steele, the director of the new film Hunted: The War Against Gays in Russia, which premieres tomorrow night at 9 p.m. on HBO.

In the interview, which was a marked departure from Stewart's usual humorous style, Steele told Stewart about the gangs of Russian vigilantes that are entrapping, torturing, and humiliating LGBT people. Stewart remarked that one of the things that stunned him most was that none of the thugs Steele and his crew followed around asked him to blur their faces.

Steele replied:

The vigilante groups, unfortunately, they're proud of what they do. They believe that they are carrying out good acts and they believe they are acting in the name of the majority of Russian people. And they believe that they have the tacit support of Russian authorities.

Watch, after the break.
