unruhs-kansas-couple.pngRemember the Unruhs -- the married, straight, Christian Kansas couple who attempted unsuccessfully to intervene in defense of Kansas's marriage discrimination amendment and claimed that marriage equality would amount to a literal theft of their own marriage?

When U.S. District Judge Daniel D. Crabtree slapped down the Unruhs' bid to intervene, he said he'd allow them to submit an amicus brief, but that they'd have to file it by Tuesday.

The kooky couple met the deadline and filed their brief. Legal rockstar Kathleen Perrin of Equality Case Files found it, and I've embedded it after the break.

It's predictably ridiculous. The couple argues, as they did in their failed motion to intervene, that the plaintiffs in the case do not have standing to argue for marriage equality for gay couples... because they are lesbians. Seriously. Oh, and also because "homosexual male couples [sic] issues differ from that of homosexual female couples by virtue of their sexual behavior."

They also repeat their asinine assertion that allowing same-sex couples to marry threatens their own marriage, that it "would diminish the marriage status of married people in Kansas" and "result in a taking of their property right" [emphasis theirs].

And like the recent filing from Westboro Baptist Church, the Unruhs cite the Bible... because in a theocracy like ours, it makes total sense to structure an argument around God and Jesus as opposed to, you know, the Constitution...

Enjoy the laughs, after the break.

P.S. "Irregardless"? Anyone else catch that?!?
