PBS Digital Studios is back with a new Blank On Blank episode. This time they're featuring a tense interview between Liberace and Jay Kent Hackleman from 1968.

The conversation, which crackles with a kind of adversarial energy from the start, is telling: The interviewer's initial annunciation of "garb" is soaked in knowing hostility, and Liberace immediately defends his super-gay style in terms of currents in men's fashion: "The male peacock is beginning to show his true plumage." Indeed.

My favorite part is: "I worked hard for what I have. Anyone that dares begrudge what I have today, just better get off their duff and do something about it. So I'll spend my money any damn way I want."
