pfox-deceptive-billboard-virginia.jpgParents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays (PFOX), a Virginia-based group that promotes the dangerous and discredited "ex-gay" myth, has erected a billboard alongside a major highway, Huffington Post reports:

The billboard appeared recently beside I-95 in Richmond, Virginia, according to NBC affiliate WWBT. The sign depicts two males, one dressed in a suit and the other in a white T-shirt, and says: "Identical twins: One gay. One not. We believe twin research studies show nobody is born gay."

The group behind the billboard, Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays, otherwise known as PFOX, is a national nonprofit that promotes ex-gay ideology, or the thinking that a person who identifies as gay can, through some kind of revelation, or in some cases "conversion therapy," renounce their homosexuality and claim they are no longer gay.

Of course, there is absolutely no scientific basis for these claims -- literally every major mainstream organization of medical and mental health professionals has denounced "ex-gay" therapy as ineffective and potentially dangerous -- but that doesn't stop these "ex-gay" charlatans from making them anyway.

Incidentally, the South African model whose stock photo is featured on the billboard reached out to Richmond's WWBT-TV, and guess what? He's not a twin, he's openly and proudly gay, and he rejects PFOX's unscientific and hateful message.

Watch, after the break.
