Jonathan-Bleiweiss.jpgJonathan Bleiweiss, a former deputy for Broward County, Florida, has been sent to prison for five years after being convicted of coercing male undocumented immigrants into having sex against their will. As part of a plea deal, Bleiweiss, who was facing life in prison for over 70 charges, will not have to register as a sex offender after he is released.

The former cop pleaded guilty to 14 counts of armed false imprisonment, 15 counts of battery and four counts of stalking. He will have to complete ten years of probation and a "psycho-sexual evaluation."

Since many of his accusers were undocumented, prosecutors had to drop dozens of charges since some men had been deported and others refused to testify out of fear of deportation.

His accusers, about 20 men who were in the country illegally, told investigators Bleiweiss preyed on their vulnerability, fondling them while patting them down during traffic stops. According to court records, they told investigators that Bleiweiss would ask for their phone numbers, and they felt powerless to refuse.

The incidents began in August 2008. A few months later, Bleiweiss' picture was posted in an Oakland Park soup kitchen, with a warning to stay away from him. The Sheriff's Office removed him from road patrol in July 2009.

He was arrested the following month.
