jon-stewart-invitation-game.pngOver the past week or so, at least four GOP presidential hopefuls (both declared and undeclared) have faced questions from reporters about whether or not they'd attend a same-sex wedding ceremony. Their answers have been bumbling and awkward... which makes them perfect fodder for The Daily Show. And last night, they got the Jon Stewart treatment.

Via Salon:

Jon Stewart spent Tuesday night's "Daily Show" ripping the GOP candidates' responses to the question which, as he quipped, will be crucial in an election which "is going to boil down to 'who do you trust to pick up the phone at 3 am and RSVP to a gay wedding?'"

Stewart referenced Santorum's hilarious episode in 2011 in which he went "all metaphysical" and compared legalizing same-sex marriage to napkins vs. paper towels. This rhetoric simply wouldn't fly in 2016 races with the dialogue-shift from "would you legalize?" to "would you attend the wedding?," Stewart observed. Most recently, the former senator declared he would not attend a loved one's same-sex wedding- but he would "love and support" them, for what it's worth.

And then Stewart whipped out the zinger: "I know you don't want to redefine the word 'marriage,' but it does appear you want to redefine the words 'love' and 'support.'"

"But it's okay, it doesn't matter," Stewart added. "[If] Santorum doesn't want to attend the wedding, that's fine -- he'll be there on the wedding night." An image of a Google search for "Santorum" flashed across the screen.

Watch, after the break.
