The Bilerico Project | Daily experiments in LGBTQ

Most of my working career was spent marketing research analysis and consulting in South Africa, with a particular interest in tracking the rising importance of Black consumer spending and power, against the background of the rise and fall of the apartheid state. As a committed Catholic, I was convinced of the religious duty to oppose injustice and oppression in all its forms, and participated in the programmes of the church's Commission for Justice & Peace.

Later, I made a late career move into teaching, first in South Africa, and later in the United Kingdom. Since my arrival here, I have transferred my belief in the church's obligation to work for justice, from concern with racial injustice outside the church, to sexual injustice within the church, and am actively involved in the organisation of London's "Soho Masses" for LGBT Catholics, where I am a member of the Pastoral Council.

In addition, I am a committee member of the Centre for the Study of Sexuality and Christianity, for which I am currently working on a major overhaul of their website (currently under construction), and have been a speaker / workshop leader at a range of seminars and conferences on LGBT faith.
